So I was on groupon and I saw this tub of mix called Lean1 Fat Burning Meal Replacement Shake. I went to the website and looked at the ingredients and nothing jumped out at me as "bad", though I don't just reeeally know what to look out for. It's pretty pricey, and I don't want to buy it if it's one of those fads. So I thought I'd just ask here, hoping that some of y'all have actually used this!
For y'all that have used it:
1. Has it been beneficial on your weigh loss journey?
2. Has anyone lost weight with the shakes and was able to keep the pounds off (I worry that this is another one of those things that if you don't use if for life, you'll gain back your weight plus some).
3. How do you use it? Do you have to add milk and yogurt and all that and blend orrrrr .... ??
4. How's the taste? Favorite flavor?
And anything else you may want to add!
Thanks in advance!

Eating at a deficit will cause decrease body weight.
use MFP to log your food, buy yourself a food scale and weigh everything you eat.
Meal Replacement ( any brand) does not cause weight loss.
It is cheaper to prepare your own shake supplement with whey protein isolate, some carb (i.e. banana) and some liquid (water, milk, etc). I drink my own shake to increase my protein level before my workout. It has nothing to do with weight loss.
Good luck in your healthy journey0 -
Did you know that stores like walmart and target have similar products? Go take a look someday. Near the vitamins. Look at the protein shakes.0

I've never used that brand, but I did lose weight a few years ago using meal-replacement shakes. Doing that taught me absolutely nothing about nutrition, portion sizes or healthy eating, and as soon as I stopped using the shakes (they were expensive) the weight started creeping back on.
This time around, I'm reading up on nutrition and slowly learning to make healthy choices and what constitutes a proper portion of food. It'll take me longer to lose the weight, and I'm not going to get rid of all my bad habits overnight, but this is now a lifetime journey and I want to do it right.
@socioseguro is correct, eating at a deficit is the way to go. Avoid the fads, have patience, and you can do it!0 -

The fact that they are marketing it as a "Fat Burning Meal Replacement Shake" immediately tells me they are full of woo.0 -
Thanks all! I'm just super impatient. I've been trying to eat better, and have been pretty good about eating around 1200 calories a day, and I try to watch the labels and such. I'm in college and it's really hard to buy healthier food because it's pricey, and then have time to fix it too. I'm trying though
@SueSueDio That's exactly what I was afraid of, that the weight would come back once I stopped them.
@JanetYellen, oh yeah! I've seen them, bars and shakes and the like all in a row. I've tried the Special K shakes and bars and, at one time, had bought some whey protein to make smoothies. Of course, I could never make the smoothies right, and the Special K stuff was so expensive for so little, I stopped buying them0 -
I can understand the impatience!
I just know now that 'quick' isn't the healthy way to lose weight.
Make sure you're getting enough calories for your current weight, and check out some of the threads in the 'Recipes' forum for ideas. Cooking larger batches of food on the weekends would help with giving you quick meals during the week, and stocking up on healthy options when they're on sale will also help (you may need to freeze some things).
Look around the internet for sites that offer 'healthy eating on a budget' tips, too, I know there are a few sites out there.(You don't have to buy organic products, and frozen fruit and veg can be just as nutritious (if not more so) than fresh and is often cheaper.)
Check out these threads on MFP - I'm sure there are plenty more useful ones, too!

You've made a great start by thinking about what you're eating and trying to make healthier choices. Adjust your habits a little at a time, and you'll be on the way to your goal before you know it. I wish you luck!
