Thread is not about WLS, but WLS in a country with lower standards of care that would cost less money.0 -

A lot of folks here would agree with you, but I'm not sure yelling at the OP is going help. Welcome to the forums, though.0 -

I think you missed the point about health conscious decisions. If the procedure isn't approved here, there is likely a reason that I'm guessing none of us know about. Reread the thread. The concerns are about safety. Personally, I think the term haters is ridiculous. You really don't know people's motive, rationale, or life experiences. Assuming that someone's choice to endanger their life hasn't been met with overwhelming support is because everyone is a bunch of haters seems silly to me... just my thoughts.0 -

If it was a choice between weight loss surgery in Mexico, or eating less, eat less. If it's a choice between WLS in Canada or the US and eating less, consult your doctor.0 -

I'm confused.
You start out by blasting everyone for not supporting weight loss surgery, that you had it and it changed your life.
Then you find out that the issue wasn't the weight surgery in and of itself, but weight loss surgery in Mexico.
Then you say that the OP should just eat less and have will power, just like you did.
What am I missing?0 -

I may have also missed the fact that cocktail hour starts early on Valentine's Day.0 -

You misunderstand the meaning of the word "haters." Also, you still need willpower after the surgery. For some people, weight loss surgery helps them get that willpower. For many, it does not.0 -
And all this stuff^ happened by the time I made my last post and I'm confused.0

I have a friend who broke his wrist in cancun. Instead of sending him to the hospital, the resort he was staying at sent him back to the airport to get help from a U.S. hospital.
And that was just a broken bone, not invasive surgery. Just sayin'.0 -

Now that I'm revisiting this from my laptop... This is a whole lot of anger for a first post on a first visit within the first 30 minutes.0 -
Well, one anecdote, which is not data -- my sister had it done in Mexico last year. No problems, and she's at a size 6, which she hasn't been since she was in high school. She said everyone was very nice and professional. That being said, I would never go to Mexico for a surgical procedure myself.0

Due to circumstances I decided to have a second WLS surgery but here in Mexico. I had a very good experience, one of my doctors was so lovely she hugged me several times and we both said we loved each other!
And clearly those are the key criteria for a competent bariatric physician....... Erm.....

I had a minor procedure on Friday. The medical professional was lovely, she was so sweet and really nice. Doesn't change the fact that she misread my referral, forgot to take a vial of blood for comparison and if the pathology lab hadn't realised and called me, I'd have had to do the whole thing all over again...

Obviously @azulvioleta6 has no idea what she's talking about, I lived in Mexico City for years. If you do your research Mexico can be a good option. There are some great hospitals in Mexico, the problem is that people try to cut corners and go for the cheapest surgery. At some of the top places it will probably cost around the same amount as it does here. Remember Mexico is a big country, just because her mother did some charity work in a poor place in Mexico does not mean the entire country is like that.0

Actually objectively it does make them healthier..you know in terms of fewer major short term and long term health risks from surgery
Just my thoughts
