I did 4.5 in the USMC. I loved it. The military like most other things is all in what you make it. You will be pissed some days others you'll love it. Why the Navy though? What do you want out of the military? Travel and adventure, be a badass, just a job, is there a certain career you want? Give me a lil bit more info on what you expect and want out of the military and I can better answer your question. DO or DIe Semper Fi!0

I just retired after 20 yrs in the Navy and like cbar mentioned it's what you make of it. No two people's experience will be the same. You have different Commands, leadership deployment schedule and an array of different factors. Was there times I hated being in the Navy? Of course but there were more times I enjoyed being in.0

I was in the Navy for 4.5 years after high school...graduated in 1987. My goals were to spend time overseas & to spend time on a carrier. I ended up being stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years, and was in a F/A-18 squadron in California for 2 years and was over in the Persian Gulf for Desert Storm. You get out of it what you put in it I think...make sure you get a rate that interests you.0

Love this!!!0 -
I did 3 years in the Army in the Military Police Corps. It had the structure and discipline I needed after graduating high school. Great experience and it helped pay for college. Good luck!0
