Carribean Cruise

I am going on a carribean cruise in three months! My goal is to be down 25-30 lbs by then. I am 5'9 and 183. I could really use some suggestions to achieve my goal in that time frame! Something to keep in mind is, I am restricted to home workouts without equipment.

Moderate calorie deficit will help you get to 20lbs in that time as long as you're consistent. If you're 183, then 1% of your bodyweight (along with adjustments) 20lbs is reachable. You can be more aggressive, but if you're going on a cruise, it's one of the fastest places that people put on weight because of 24 hour food service and the party mentality. I worked out everyday on every cruise I went on, was mindful of calories, and it was still easy to pile on 5lbs with no problem.

This is why I would like to lose a little more than 20. 20 is a satisfying weight for me but I would like room to enjoy the cruise or food I should say lol.0 -
You can, but your calorie deficit might leave you pretty hungry. And carry that "hunger" over to a cruise....................not a great mix.

I'm 5'9" and I started at 183 so I've been there. Unfortunately, 10 pounds a month is not a reasonable goal. I've tried something similar, I had too much of a deficit trying to lose weight too fast. When my deficit was too aggressive, I ended up binging and ruining the excessive deficit pretty much every week because I didn't try and be reasonable with my weight loss. Having a reasonable goal; I'm hardly ever hungry, and I've actually lost weight faster because I don't end up in a binge.
I feel even 20 pounds in 3 months is too much, but I trust @ninerbuff educated opinion over my own.0 -

Right now I'm at a 1200 calories a day goal.. I plan on eating a lot of fish chicken and veggies. Typically that fills me up pretty well. I do drink diet soda at the moment so I plan on giving that up and adding more water because I don't drink ANYWHERE near as much as I should. My body is use to pretty bad food. Fast food a few nights a week.. lots of fried food and sweets. Last time I really stuck to a diet I lost about 10 lbs in a month. But I know you can hit plateus and I really want to avoid that. 2 lbs a week is steady and healthy.. 2 × 12 weeks is 24 lbs. That's right around my goal. I don't know if I push myself a little bit more if I could achieve 25+. I want to slim down my stomach area so I can comfortably wear a bathing suit... and I want to be able to eat a piece of pizza without feeling too bad about it. It's only a week vacation and then I'd be back to clean eating and getting healthy overall.0 -

Think of it like this: Extremism usually doesn't get results when it comes to losing weight because our bodys will fight us, BUT wouldn't it be nice to be 10-15 pounds lighter than you are right now during the cruise? That's super doable. If you keep strong during the cruise, and afterwards, you might even get down that 30 pounds that you're after for some later event in your life. By not going to extremes, you're more likely to keep it off.0

Chronic end of winter Caribbean cruiser here. Leaving for a 14 nighter on the 3 April.
If you are losing at a 2 lb a week goal now, and eating 1200 cals, the best advice I can give you is- start slowly upping your calories 3 weeks before your cruise so you are eating at maintenance the week before your cruise.
With a deficit as large as yours, and the change in food, less carbs and salt, you are initially going to drop a lot of water weight. Once you walk on that ship and up your calories all that water weight plus more will come right back on, getting back to maintenance before you cruise will minimise the sudden water gain when you cruise.
I, a petite woman, usually put on 5-7 lbs on a 14 night cruise. 2 lbs fat 3-5 lbs water. The water goes within a week of getting back home, the extra fat within a month with little or no extra effort.
I always pack loose clothes for the last few days as I know a water gain is inevitable.
Unlike ninerbuff I don't exercise every day, but I am very active on shore days and that helps keep any actual weight gain down.

I just returned from a 7 day cruise. It was a big ship and our cabin was on an end, so we walked a lot! My advice: Walk the deck before breakfast to catch the sunrise. Seek out veggies to fill up on. Limit bread and alcohol. Have 2-3 desserts, not daily. Drink water. (We purchased bottles of water for the cabin). Take the stairs all the time. Your thighs will burn. That's ok. Eat slowly and enjoy conversation with table mates. Don't eat till you are stuffed. Take advantage of any free exercise classes, the free gym, and afternoon dance lessons. Jump into the pool regularly. Dance after dinner. It's healthier and cheaper than the casino. You get the point.0

Losing 10 lbs a month could be dangerous. Make sure you do this safely.0

I'm in the same boat. I'm going on a cruise in a month- thank god its only a three day cruise so it won't be terrible with calories. I plan on working out and swimming everyday. I have 5 weeks till cruise so I'm just hoping on losing 10lbs which I feel is doable.0
