Bar codes

Hi although I have been using MFP for quite some time, on and off, has anyone noticed that some bar codes on food products don't always contain the correct information? Either that or is it the scanner on this app that is at fault? I'm trying very hard to monitor my calorie and sugar intake so need as much help as MFP can give.

Most items are user generated. Therefore a degree of error is to be anticipated.
If you find an incorrect entry, edit it.0 -
All a bar code does is identify which item is in the box. The bar code doesn't contain any intrinsic information beyond that.
The MFP nutritional information associated with that bar code is entered by other users just like any other database entry.0 -
I've noticed that, too. Just now, I scanned a new pasta sauce that I haven't logged before and it was off by 20 calories. I just made a new one.0

I tend to scan new foods where possible because it does usually 'give' relevant information on the nutrition breakdown. An example today - when I scanned a packet of stir fry vegetables it came out as a bean salad!!! I'll just have to pay more attention lol.0
