Hey MFP Ladies, Im a mother of a 7month old baby like many other mothers i struggle to lose my baby weight. I work out and i am currently getting in the swing of things as far as making better eating habits, but i would like some advice and recipes for healthy meals for my family i mainly eat chicken, fish, and shrimp so im looking for more recipes with those main ingredients, also some vegetable recipes too. Im a pretty good cook which is part of the reason why im in this predicament now. Any help would be appreciated also add me to your friends list so we can motivate each oter

Hello! I am the mom of a 9 month old and recently started using mfp again. When he was excluseively breastfeeding, I just let myself eat whatever I wanted and the weight was coming off but now he is nursing less it is much more difficult. Also tying to eat healthier overall as we are both shift workers and have a habit of fast food.
Here are some recipes I tried recently that I actually got from the myfitnesspal blog and they both turned out really well! You can import them in your recipe maker and it will count the calories for you. They were both pretty filling but low-cal. One is shrimp and one is vegetarian.

Hi. I'm a mom of 2 toddler boys. My kids are in daycare while I work, but I have found dinners are freakin awful without a game plan. I try to make quick stuff. Last night we had eggs, toast, and fruit. Tonight we will have baked potato bar. (basically I cook the potatoes and let every one put whatever they like on top. usually chicken, bacon, broccoli, sour cream, whatever) This way I can make good choices and other people can eat what they like.
I also recommend the entire crockpot section on the www.skinnytaste.com site. Crockpots have changed my life. You guys still have it easy because your kids either breast feed or mostly have bottles. Wait until they get chompers and eat real food. That's when the real battle begins. I have one kid that hates broccoli and the other hates cauliflower. One who will eat anything as long as I call it a taco and another who really just wants cereal for every meal. Meals can be a battle, and my kids really aren't that picky. My older boy is pretty good, but my 2 year old is testing us all the time because he's 2.0 -

My best advice? Put together a list of 5-6 diet friendly foods that can be made in 20minutes or less. Make those the crux of your meals and always keep the ingredients on hand.

My house too... my rule is that they have to finish whats on their plates, then they can have fruit or carrot sticks.
The amount on their plate varies by the food...if its a new food, they get a small amount...a favorite and they get more.

I have a two year old and a three month old and I work part time. I just try to do whatever I can ahead of time to make meals easier. The crock pot is your friend! Also, make meals where the leftovers can be transformed into something else. For example, a couple of times a month I roast a whole chicken for dinner one night, and then use the leftover chicken for big salads the next night. Keep things simple. I love to cook and try new things, but it makes things a lot easier if I make some of the same, simple recipes often (spaghetti, grilled chicken and veggies, big salads, chili, etc.).

Mom of a soon to be 2 year old. I started meal planning my weeks out. That way I know what to expect to make after work. Lately for lunches I've been making salads with chicken, or cooking a tenderloin on Sundays and portioning out enough for 4 lunches along with frozen veggies and couscous. So far that is working for me. Haven't lost any weight yet... but hoping to see that soon!
Dinner Menu
Monday: Italian
Tuesday: Tacos
Wednesday: Chicken Salads
Thursday: Breakfast for dinner
Friday: Pizza (we buy pizza set ups so we can add veggies)
Sat/Sun: Leftovers or we indulge in take out.
