So what's better for butt/midsection fat, elliptical or stationary bike?

neither, both. No such thing as targeted weight loss.

You can't spot reduce. Diet is what will take off the fat.

Elliptical (only b/c you are sitting on your butt on the bike), but the elliptical isn't going to specifically spot reduce the fat on your butt.

People who ride bikes have no glutes, right.

Calorie deficit, any cardio and weights - all combined for best results. You can't target weight loss, where and how much you lose is usually different for every person. I noticed that generally first part of the body that reduces is the part that has most fat, this might not be the case for everyone tho.
