Sounds very familiar. I (47 y.) try to lose 1 lbs per week by reducing 3.500 cals. , I have to be super strict counting calories. Also noticed that I need to watch sodium intake or my scale drives me nuts. Good luck!0

I'm 45, I set up MFP to lose .5 lbs a week and I'm on target. As long as I'm consistent with my intake, accurate with my intake by using a food scale I have no problem losing. It's only when I get lazy and guesstimate my portions that I notice I'm not on target for loss.
Age really doesn't have much to do with it. If you are logging your food/drinks as accurate as you can (for me that means using a food scale, not guesstimating portion sizes) you shouldn't have too much of a problem losing weight.0 -
Focus on your logging accuracy...weigh don't measure, double check against other databases, don't use homemade or recipes
don't overestimate calorie burns from exercise
Start a progressive resistance programme...and move more
Average your loss over 6 weeks, on a rolling basis and use what happens in your body to adjust the estimates you're working with
There is no reason for weight loss to be harder if you're following the right process0 -
I cannot stress enough how important that 4th point of rabbit's is. The water/hormone/cycle noise makes a single week's weigh in number meaningless. I realize that stinks but that's where diligent logging and trusting the process are all you've got so you cling to them!0

It dies slow down with age I am always weighing measuring everything 10 years ago I'd lose 2lbs a week every week now it's 1/2-1 lbs doing the same thing adjusting calories where need be even doctors have told me women in the mid late 40s weightloss will be slower it's down to hormones0

I've lost 70 pounds, I started at 55 years young. My experience was that it was pretty easy, steady, interesting and even fun. First I got my attitude in check. By that I mean, I was not going to accept that age was going to be a hinderence. Second I fine tuned my discipline. By that I mean, I was going to look inward for my motivation. Finally I took weighing everything serious, dead serious. Oh yes, move your body, try to sweat every day. Good luck, and age is just a number!0

I'm 52 and I've lost 39 lbs. I lose consistently when I log carefully and less when I get loosy goosy. I find there's just no room to get lazy with logging.0
