How does eating maintenance calories work? I'm new to it and I'm seeking to maintain my weight temperarily. I've already lost 10 pounds...I'm 150 pounds which I'm mostly happy with but not completely. Right now I just want to keep my weight how it is for a wedding,I will be attending in a couple weeks so I can fit ok in the dress ill be wearing there. I don't want to lose or gain cuz I don't want the dress either too tight or too big as I've been losing weight.

There is a separate MFP board called "Maintaining Weight" , maybe you want to repost there.

I will advise you to read "Most Helpful Post: Maintaining weight" at the "Maintaining weight" message board, first. It will be helpful
Good luck in your healthy journey

set your goal to maintain...MFP will calculate an estimated level of calories based on that goal.

Basically you enter your current information into MFP and set it to maintain. Eat the calories it gives you.

If you find you are losing or gaining at those calories adjust 50-100 calories a day according to your needs. (It is only a general population estimation)

If you are exercising continue eating back those calories.

MFP's maintenance calorie estimate has worked for me.

    Cheers, h.

This. Or, if you know how fast you've been losing on average you can just do a bit of math and use your own results rather than an estimate. Just multiply your average weight loss per week in lb by 500 and add that to your current intake.

Just be aware that when you switch from a deficit to maintenance your body will restore your glycogen levels and you'll have more food waste in your body. This can cause your weight to jump up 3-5lb pretty quickly, but once you get back to losing weight it'll drop off within a few days.
