Post-viral Fatigue Syndrome

After having a virus before Christmas my husband is left with Post-viral fatigue syndrome (NOT Chronic fatigue syndrome). I’ve had it before (after shingles) and it took about 6 months to finally clear. I have no idea how I got over it-maybe it just took time to build up my immune system again.
He is chronically fatigued -wiped-out every day and has no energy to do anything at all. He has a manual job which makes it worse! He is also comfort eating- in part, because he’s down and also for the energy boost (which never happens). Rest makes no difference either. Has anyone else suffered this and maybe has any tips on management or treatment? (Dr’s, in general, are still unsure how to treat it).
Thanks. I just feel so sorry for him

I had horrible fatigue after my cardiac ablation. I couldn't muster up the energy to do anything. It sucks. The only thing your husband can do is eat at a deficit to lose weight instead of exercising to create that deficit.

I've had this issue before for upto a month. It just takes time for your body's energy systems etc to get back to normal and there really isn't anything I know of that can help other than time and rest.0

I have fatigue (due to a neurological condition), and the only suggestion I can offer is fatigue management. Keep an hourly diary of what he's done and how it makes him feel for a week or so. When you've identified patterns you can both plan and make a timetable. Every day should include something "fun", as well as something he needs to do. Plan for 30 minute rest periods before doing something tiring, as well as suitable rest afterwards (and during, if needed).
Fatigue doesn't always stick to the plan, unfortunately, but it's a start.0 -
Tell him to take a men's multivitamin to help his immune system.

Most important: He needs to eat healthy, antioxidant foods.0
