How to make protein powder LESS sweet?

So I ordered a tub of Sexy Whey protein in Vanilla, and I tried it this morning blended with water, ice, and Greek Yogurt. It was so insanely sweet, it had to suffer through drinking it. At some points, it tasted very chemical-like (almost like soap. Lol!)

Do any of you have any ideas of what I could add to it to UNsweeten it? A friend of mine puts different flavored extracts in her shakes, but I'm not sure if that would just make it sweeter. Maybe if I added some chocolate extract? Or just some regular cinnamon? I'm not really sure. I don't want to add a whole lot of calories.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have "birthday cake" flavored whey and it is sweeter than vanilla. I am ok with the sweet but I flavor my whey with Milk Splash (strawberry, banana, chocolate, cookies and cream) and I also use Milk Magic (strawberry, orange cream, cotton candy) and it changes the flavor to the flavor choice I want and it works with the sweetness to offset it to make a great flavor shake. I will add that I only use unsweeted cashew milk, ice, protein powder and the flavor of my choice.

The birthday cake flavor I bought allows me to cook with it (cookies, protein bars, energy bars etc.) without adding sugar to it.

I may throw out, sour cream or cream cheese or cottage cheese or yogurt (plain greek) but adding high amounts calories to my shake is not something I want to do with my shake.

If you are doing chocolate flavored, you could try to use cocoa unsweet and if you drink coffee, put a tablespoon or so in it as it could offset the vanilla and enhance the chocolate..

Read the ingredients list and in the future avoid products with that artificial sweetener.
If you buy products from stores, you can return them 100% guaranteed. Online, few people return.

I may try the coffee! I think the bitterness may counteract the sweetness. Thanks!

I would go with plain yogurt and that should cut the sweetness by a lot and as mentioned, coffee or bitter cocoa powder would work as well.

You can try cutting the amount of protein in half to mix. I have a very sweet vanilla bean that I use, and instead of 1 scoop, I use a half. Fat-free plain Greek yogurt helps, and you can still have the protein from that to help make up for the half scoop of protein mix you took out.

Yeah mix with yogurt or oatmeal.

I hear you though, I bought Trutein protein pudding mix after hearing so many good things about it and and I just couldn't eat it because it's disgustingly sweet.

Biochem Ultimate 100 % Whey protein, Natural has no sweetener whatsoever. Ingredients: Whey protein isolate, Natural French vanilla flavor, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum.

(The Vanilla option does have some sugar, and to me a rather overpowering amount of vanilla. Natural is lightly vanilla.)
