I'm Michael. 5'9" and 207 lbs. Have been going to the gym with a trainer for 2.5 years 3x a week and still I'm fat! I realize for me the real challenge (or rather, "next" challenge) is eating (and drinking). I just love to cook and eat and socialize around food too much. I just joined MFP and would love to share statuses and messages of support with folks with similar challenges. My initial goal is to get down to 180, which is still well above my recommended weight, but i want to start with a reasonable goal. Best of luck to you all!

Middle agers like us have it harder; but guys lose weight easier, or so it seems! Google a Mediterranean Diet. There are so many wonderful fun ways to prepare vegetables! Think veggies (love them roasted and grilled), beautiful fruits, beans, nuts, seeds, low fat dairy, lean meat, fruit-infused water, lovely grains, roots, salads. My partner and I cook up a storm and entertain with our our Mediterranean based, soy free, gluten free way of eating. It's a mindset. We are both losing weight.1
