Is it considered cardio when.....

Is it considered cardio when your heart starts racing when the doctor gives you your horrible A1c, cholesterol and BP numbers? If so, I got a great workout!
I knew it wasn't good, but I didn't think it'd be that bad. I need to restart. So I logged on to MFP. I started (again) logging my food. I actually wasn't taking in as many calories as I thought, but the carbs were way too high. With the high A1c, my food plan is low-carb. I'm 50 years old and have quite a bit of weight to loose. And quite a bit of fitness to gain
My first big hurdle is nighttime eating. I am out of control! I do not sleep well. So I wake up several times in the middle of the night tired, bored and frustrated. So, I eat. I thought eating protein instead of carbs was OK. But it's still eating and it still raises my "fasting" blood sugar. I MUST get this under control.
My first fitness goal is to walk/run a 5K in May. I also want to be stronger. So I'm looking into strength training that I can do and won't get bored or frustrated.
I think that walking more will encourage me to eat better which will encourage me to sleep better which will encourage me to walk more which will encourage me to eat better which will encourage me to sleep better which will encourage me to walk more..... This is the endless cycle I want to be on.
