I understand that sodium makes you retain water, but does it actually sabbotage weightloss? In theory if I eat high sodium consistently for 3 months and then get my act together and let go of all that water weight, will my "true weight" be pretty much the same as if I had consumed much less sodium throughout the 3 months?

Water in tissue is different than fat tissue.

Does not have anything to do with weight loss.
Often high sodium foods are processed foods and fast food, and these can cause weight gain.
