I read that you need to burn 35,000 calories to lose 10 pounds in 10-20 weeks.. Would that be in a week to burn that many?? I just started going to the gym on Jan 22/16 so I'm a little unsure of this!! Any advice would be appreciated ☺

The rough rule of thumb is 3500 kcal per pound. It doesn't matter if you burn them in a week or in a year; 3500 kcal = 1 lb. So 35,000 kcal does indeed equal 10 lb.
But most of your calorie burn doesn't come from the gym unless you are very active. Most of it comes from living your life and doing your daily activities. Very roughly the average woman burns 2000 kcal per day just living.
