I find that any new exercise hurts my joints, but as my muscles strengthen and support the joints, I'm able to do things with no pain. Knees aren't great but if I bike in moderation it's getting better and I can go an hour. New exercise for me.

Have you tried a rowing machine?
It works nearly all your muscles as well as being a great cardio work out.
Start slow and maybe run it past your PCP or PT.

Accuracy in your calorie deficit is what you need to lose weight; not exercise.

    Cheers, h.

I have RA and what helped me was lifting weights. It was tough at first but I have no need for meds as of yet and Ive been working out going on 4 years(in aug). mine was bad enough hubby could not even rub my shoulders

    I'm about your age.
For me, eating right seemed to be 90% of the battle towards losing weight.
Just to let you know you can take it a bit easy if you want to.
Exercise for health. But really give your all when it comes to eating right.
Yoga is excellent. Takes months. Try fish oil for that inflammation (helped me).
Diet goes a long, long way towards reducing inflammation in the body.

You said you don't have time for the pool. Sorry, but that's the best--I've been doing that for 20 yrs. I do yoga too, stretching 3 times a week, swimming and aquagym 3 times a week, and the gym once a week. Friends and family are having hip or knee replcements and I still keep it under control--in fact it's getting better. I had to make time to do all this so I could function, and sleep at night. Good luck to you. By the way--I'm 61 and have lived with this a long time.

I do take fish oil and have been doing yoga for 26 years. I think I am "too loose" and need to focus more on strengthening core
