I've been logging my food and all and it's been pretty accurate bc I even use a good scale and all but it's weird because for example I'll put in broccoli and the only choice it gives me will be 1 cup ...FLUID ounces..Militer...how come it doesn't ask me for grams or anything? A that right does anyone else have that problem?

Yeah, it's really annoying. I think a lot of the entries are from users that have no idea what they're doing or something... Sometimes I have to search for a while. One example is I have tried to log raw tomatos several times. There's no *kitten* entry for *kitten* tomatos. WTF. I gave up and just logged my tomatos as bell peppers, close enough.

    You could have misspelled broccoli?
I just typed russel stovers. Nothing was showing. I was about to create my own.
Then. oops. Russell. MFP is so picky.
Try again, I just typed it and it shows correctly.

I tried "Tomato" but I'll try that too next time

Edit: I actually just looked. Still no good entries for "tomato" "tomatoes" etc... Not sure why this wasn't one of the default entried MFP put up when they launched the app.

For any non-processed food like fruit, vegetables, or meat I enter (food)+usda after. For example: tomato usda.

It gives you the USDA calories count in grams.
I believe this to be reliable.

Yeah I have no issues finding tomato entries.... I usually use Roma tomatoes so I search "Roma tomatoes fresh grams" and I usually find an entry with grams as the serving size. You'll figure out how to search over time. Always check them against an outside source for accuracy, all entries are not created equal.

As a matter of fact I think we need a system to help weed out those terrible entries.
