Hello,

I finish taking my 2300 calories at around 8 pm and then get up at 5:30 am and take my pre-workout and around 6:15 am I take my protein and beta alanine and then around 10:30 is when solid food is taken then eating until 8 pm and rinse and repeat.

So is this intermittent fasting?

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be considered IF but I'm not expert in the matter.

No, I don't think so. But there's a bajillion different IF protocols out there...

Actually that IS intermittent fasting(ish). Before the whole 5:2 thing became popular where you eat without counting calories for 5 days and eat only 500 calories for 2 days, there was just daily IF. This is when you fast for a certain amount of hours per day, then feast for the rest. The recommended fast/feast periods for men are 16/8 and for women it's 14/10.

You should be going 16ish hours without eating. The only exception to this is a pre-workout like BCAAs which are usually 40ish calories. Black coffee and water are also allowed of course. The method I'm referencing is the Leangains method by Martin Berkhan which is extremely popular and quite useful.

If all the stuff you're taking prior to solid food is more than ~150 calories, it's not really IF though.

OK my protein shake alone is 200 calories.

Beta alanine is 0 calories and pre-workout is 56 calories.

I guess I can stop drinking protein shake while working out.

Solid food will be consumed around 10.30 am. Damn I thought I was on the right track lol

According to my life style I can try to get my last meal around 7 but even then it'll be only 12 hours.

16 hour interval hard to incorporate in my lifestyle. I am not starving or craving food just sometimes I get around preparing food at a late time lol

When I was researching intermittent fasting, I read to stay under 50 calories, over 50 cals is breaking the fast

I've seen different numbers all over, but I follow this too when I'm using IF. I only have 30 calories of BCAAs pre-workout and I don't have anything else until it's time to actually have a meal.

My pre-workout is 56 calories. It has 14 grams of protein as well. Lol its very powerful, I read reviews and bought it.

I guess I can try starting my fast at 7 instead of 8 pm.
It'll be 7 pm to 10.30 pm apart from the exception of my pre-workout which will partially break my fast at 6 lol
