Water intake

I've been doing the MFP thing since just before Christmas, along with wearing a FitBit Charge HR, and I've made great progress. I'm down about 15 pounds so far, 25 more to go. I track my food carefully, and keep to 1200 calories along with eating back at least half of the exercise calories daily. My exercise is almost daily, and usually means brisk walking (at least an hour daily--and there are lots of hills in my neighborhood, so it's no easy stroll), elliptical on days that are too cold/windy/snowstormy, plus weight lifting with a trainer twice each week. I'm 53 years old, SW 175, CW 160.7, 5'5" tall.

My question is about water intake. I drink 3-4 cups of black coffee each morning, and always have 6 ounces of milk on my cereal. I know there is a great deal of fluid in the food we all eat, too. I usually drink another 48 ounces of water throughout the day, which is less than the 8 cups I hear many people preach as essential.

Am I correct in thinking that my water intake is fine? I'm absolutely not thirsty, and I just don't see the point of flooding myself when I'm satisfied and losing weight steadily. Also, I'm in the bathroom enough, thank you.

Thanks!

Yes, your water intake is fine. That whole 8 cups a day thing is not scientifically sound. Drinking to your thirst is a better method. You're doing great.
