Chewing Gum At Night - Mitigate Craving?

Had an interesting conversation with my friend about chewing gum. Besides some limited studies that showed sugar+chewing action that can temporarily relieve sleepiness.. I was wondering if anyone chews gum at night on purpose to mitigate craving. Couldn't simple action of chewing and swallowing make your brain think you are eating?!

And I am referring to sugar free types with less than 5 cal a gum. Do you think anything fruity will only increase your craving for something sweet?

Just an interesting thought, I was thinking!

    No I do not.

I chew gum twice a day every day and do so even way before I eat my first meal.

I chew the Wrigley's Fruit Chews gum sugar free. I think this is the most bizarre and extremely bogus thing I have ever heard. The more I am alive, the stranger things get.

I find it does help me from binging, and I drink some water with gum. My favorite gum Eclipse

I dont chew gum any more. I find the saliva production stimulates cravings and symptoms of hunger even of I've eaten plenty of calories. Water for me, thank you.

I find that if I'm just wanting to eat in order to have something to do or to have some sort of taste in my mouth, chewing gum (and drinking hot tea for that matter) are effective in keeping me from going over my calories.
