Ate 52 g fiber yesterday... Things about to get 'interesting'?

I wasn't trying to do this... Just a lot of fiberlicious foods on one day. I looked back thru my diary and the most I ever ate previously was 47 g, and that was on a day where I exceeded my calorie allotment by about 500.
I drank a little extra water, for what it's worth. Any experiences with this?

Hahaha... And within my calorie deficit!!! I don't think I could replicate this if I tried. Okay. Now I'm worried...

I routinely eat 40+ grams of fiber a day without even trying so my experience may not be similar to yours. Depending on the type of fiber, prepare yourself to see a few extra bathroom visits. Nothing too extreme or uncomfortable, you just "go" more often.

Sounds like you will be fine. I do wonder how a person who binged on quest bars went though (in a thread a month or so back).

Would suggest tomorrow is not the day to go for a run, other than that a lot of water and don't be surprised if you are not to interested in food

Thanks! You've all made me feel much better!
BTW: it was all just regular food fiber. No fiber ones or anything like that. (My college age daughter has a funny story about those backing up on some boys at high school cross country camp.)

Going from minimal fiber to that amount would likely cause severe gastrointestinal distress.

But if you typically get a good amount of fiber, you're good. Maybe extra water and/or fat to help move things along.

I went from around 30g one day to at least 42 the next. Maybe a little gassy but that's it.

    :)

  • I decided to add flax seed to my diet for the first time (2 Tbsp in cereal) and experienced severe gas pains a couple of days later lasting about 24 hours. Make sure you have medicine on hand to deal with severe cramping should you need it.

That depends... if you're like me - you'd have to take some Magnesium Hydroxide. Fibre makes me constipated. Lol

My diary is open! I had a vega one shake with berries and baby greens, then a delicious Indian lunch of chana dal & brown rice biryani at my school site (it's a charter school with an organic lunch program & private chef paid for by parents). There was some broccoli served too. I had sunflower seeds for a snack, and then two cups of microwave popcorn with my class (they had earned a movie the day I was subbing... 'fun Friday'). For dinner I had more greens, steamed, and some scallops. Sounds pretty normal, no? I did eat about 2000 calories but that's pretty average when I do a lot of walking.

Personally, I just like munching on random vegetables between meals not to mention the vegetables I have with my meals. I don't like meat so my diet is mostly plant-based which means it's naturally high in fiber. Yesterday, for example, I had 3 artichokes for lunch, so that's 20+ grams of fiber right there from one meal.

If you aren't having issues related to eating lowish fiber you should be fine even if you miss the MFP goal by a few grams. Don't stress too much about it.

This is pretty much what's now recommended for women so this isn't over doing it by any means. It's about what I eat as well. I love water so drink a lot of it.

Shouldn't be any issues, unless as someone suggested you went from 15g to 50g overnight, if things get tricky get out the apple sauce... :D
