How often do you change your scale battery?

I saw a thread the other day about someone whose noticed they were gaining weight rapidly, and it turned out that they needed to just change their scale battery. It got me wondering....

How often do you find that you need to change yours? I would have thought once a year, but now I wonder how long they do really keep a scale reading accurately.

Depends on the scale, how often it gets used, etc. I have one that has a low battery indicator and it lasted two years on a set. Another went 4 years on a 9 volt. Another one ate a couple AAs every few months.

I've had a Thinner brand scale since 2010 or 2011 and have not yet changed the battery, which is button-style. I also have a medical scale from the VA as part of their TeleMOVE program, and my Thinner scale weighs a consistent 0.5 - 0.75 pounds heavier than it.

when it flashes the Low Battery thing at me. I'd do it if I got a wildly odd reading too, but that's never happened without a perfectly rational explanation (even if I don't figure it out until hindsight, haha). I weigh frequently - not quite daily but 4-5 days a week anyway - and I can't even recall the last time anyone changed the batteries in our scale. We've had it for about 8 years? Only had to put new batteries in it a handful of times in that span.

While mine has a low battery indicator, I do notice in advance of that the weights start fluctuating more than makes sense. New batteries in and the swings dissapear, unless I earned them! Mine lasts about a year.

Typically once a year. I say typically because the other day mine got stuck in sync mode (I walked away before making sure it synced) and that pretty much killed the batteries.

My scale is bluetooth enabled, so the app tells me how much battery life is available.

I've never changed the battery in my scale. I've had it so long I don't even know when I got it--it's got to be at least 6-7 years old, maybe older. It's still pretty consistent with my doctor's scale.
