Strength Training for beginners?

Hi everyone!
I am wanting to start adding strength training into my routine, but I'm not sure where to start and wanted a little advice from those of you that know what you're doing! I'm just not sure where to start. Do I just do 1 day to start and do a full body workout? Or is it better to do 2 or 3 days and split up the muscle groups? Or do a full body 2 days a week? What's the best way to break it up and where do I start? Should I find some DVDs or look up workouts online?
Any help or advice anyof you can give me will be much appreciated!!
Thanks!
Ang

Stronglifts 5x5 is a good program.

SL5x5 is a very good program. I also recommend reading this book
http://www.amazon.com/New-Rules-Lifting-Women-Goddess/dp/1583333398/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1372647858&sr=1-1&keywords=new+rules+of+lifting+for+women0 -
Stronglifts and NROLFW as mentioned. Other options are Starting Strength and Wendler too.
If you lack equipment, there is Convict Conditioning and You Are Your Own Gym0 -
I actually prefer Wendler out of all the programs listed above. They are all decent for beginners and all will work, though. I just had the MOST success following Wendler's advice and programming.0

I would recommend Stronglifts 5 x 5. Check out the group here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/4601-stronglifts-5x5-for-women
NROL is good but gets 'fussy' after a few stages and Wendler is not a beginner program.
AllPro is also good for a beginner (but use the links in the SL group for form guidance) - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=4195843&page=1.0 -
AllPro's also has a group here on MFP: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/12707-all-pro-s-beginner-weight-lifting-routine0

Thanks for all the advice! I joined a couple of those groups. However, it seems like all of them are specifically for gym equipment. I don't have a gym membership and am looking for something I can start at home. I have a couple different dumbbells and can get more at higher weights. It seems like many of the exercises can be adapted for a dumbbell routine. Any ideas or opinions on that? Thanks again everyone! I appreciate the comments.0
