Hey team,

Numerous people asked me to go out tonight and I said no....for many reasons. Partly, I just don't like going out usually. But another huge part of it is I'm worried that if I go out and stay out late, I'll wake up late tomorrow or get sick and end up not working out this week. I also wake up early during the week and I don't want another excuse to wake up later/not work out. I'm also worried if I go out I'll end up just eating everything. Sooooo what do you guys usually do on Friday/Saturday nights?

Put the kids to bed. If it's early enough (the toddler is a total night owl), I fold laundry and watch a movie. If it's late, I crash.

    Real party animal, here. ;)

Instead of going out, can you have people come over and just hang? A once a month girl's night in, everybody in their pj's, chick flick, that sort of thing?

Being in my late 30s and married, I don't tend to "go out" like I did in my twenties so it is not much of an issue now. But when I do, I usually stick with a couple beers or glasses of wine rather than drinking to excess, and try to head home by midnight at least. I still have fun. Honestly even in my college years I did that pretty often just because I didn't like wasting my limited budget on alcohol & cover charges and stuff like that.

I agree with the other idea about a girls' night in. Other stuff would work too. Late night movie with a mixed group of friends, comedy club w/ less drinking involved than a "club club", sporting events if you like that sort of thing... Honestly, maybe you would even find some new friends who are more into a healthier lifestyle?

Typically we stay up late but at home on Fridays, cook and maybe have a glass of wine...then do a day trip and long hike (and/or bike ride) on Saturdays, and indulge in a restaurant meal or two, then back to our normal eating habits (and calorie counting) Sunday...seems to work pretty well.

We go out once or twice a week. As long as we stay within our healthy range of activities for the rest of the week, it's okay to splurge a little here and there. Just don't make it a habit and you'll be fine.

Thanks for all of your ideas :) The girls' night in sounds good, as does finding healthier friends!

The bf and I are hardcore party animals. We sometimes have people over for dinner. Or we go listen to live jazz. When we really want to paint the town red, we stay home and cook dinner. ;)

We do, of course, eat out from time to time. And we LOVE boardgames (German style, mostly. I also like French-style games) so we frequently go play boardgames with other people. We're also into jigsaw puzzles.

I bank calories all week because my SO and I go out with friends usually on Saturday night. So by Saturday night I can eat a burger and fries and a drink and still maintain my deficit. And I don't drink so I don't wake up feeling hungover. We are rarely out past 11 p.m. so nothing gets thrown off that badly.

fridays are my ' in the back yard by the fire pit with jack (daniels, for those who dont know me LOL) and friends' night and saturday is going out to dinner and bars and dont get home till 2 am or later. sometimes i do both nights sometimes just one (this week it was just saturday and unusual for me, i was home around midnight).

both days, im usually at the gym first thing in the morning (my runs usually get cancelled but not always depends on how my afternoon is going lol). going out does not equate being laid up for days and days. i can put down some pretty impressive amounts of alcohol and it doesnt affect my routine at all. in fact, my routine is why i CAN do these weekends.

as far as wake up time? im up at 5 am. 7 days a week. dam*** internal clock......

If you have the weekends off, why not spend part of your day outdoors or at the gym, really punch it, and earn some extra cals to spend going out?

Or recruit your friends into some healthier weekend activities... Instead of all night at the bar, why not a day hike, a picnic, and maybe/maybe not a drink on the way home?

Being a shut in is boring, and boredom causes more diet fails than beer.
