TDEE

Okay, I feel kind of silly posting this. I've been on MFP since October of last year and I still have no idea what this is. Can someone please explain it to me?

    the amount of calories you use in a day - being alive, doing your stuff and exercising (if relevant).

    Total Daily Energy Expenditure.

    a good reason to know your TDEE is when you want to take a day off from eating at a deficit, that way you know how many calories to hit on your off day, most people will just call it eating at maintenance

    keep in mind that as you start to weigh less and continue to exercise the same, your TDEE will get smaller so its a good idea to recalculate every dropped 10 lbs of body weight

    there are lots of online calculators that will calculate TDEE for you

    Your TDEE does not necessarily get smaller. But it is right that you should recalculate it as you lose weight.

    example: both exercise the same

    a 30 yr 5'6 female that weighs 180 has a TDEE of 2200

    a 30 yr 5'6 female that weighs 130 has a TDEE of 1900

    What I do not understand about TDEE is how is it calculated if a person's life has no two days the same.

    ie some days are extremely active with their work, other days are next to not much at all activity-wise.

    In other words, no clearcut guidelines as to what the person's activites are from week to week.
