training for a half?

I started running in Feb, with Zombies 5k training. Now i am just running 5k distance 3 days a week. Im up to a 14:19 mile and a 44:46 5k time. A friend.of mine wants me to sign up for the Disney Princess half marathon that is the weekend of Feb 20. Thats essentially right around 8 months away. Based on where im at with running right now would i be ready if i started training right now? Its almost sold out so i need to decide now. Possible?

Also i am eating clean, getting enough calories, doing p90x running hybrid so i would still lose weight during this time you think?

8 months is more than enough time for pretty much anyone to prepare for running a half-marathon.

If you're already running ~10 miles a week, you've got a GREAT base to start with.

Look here for a training plan: www.halhigdon.com

You'll continue to lose weight as long as you eat at a deficit. Weight loss has nothing to do with exercise, directly. It's about how much you eat in relation to your activity.

I don't know what your deficit currently is, but when you start getting into longer running weeks, you're definitely going to want to increase your food intake. otherwise, you'll likely be miserable and unable to recover/heal... especially if you're still doing P90X.

imo just go for it before the spots are all sold out, before you end up kicking yourself for not doing so! I mean, what’s the ‘worst’ that can happen? u end up running as much as you can then walk the rest... No matter what, am certain u’ll have fun! 8 months does seem like ample time to prepare though, btw :)

Yes you have time to be ready,

Be consistent in your running, if you're thinking of a half marathon you may want to get out 4 times per week and gradually start building your distances.

+1 on the Hal Higdon training plans, with the amount of time you have right now consider doing a 10k plan (and even a race if there's one that will fit your schedule) followed by the half marathon plan.

Book your spot now before it sells out!
