I can't seem to figure out why I consume so much sodium, and I am struggling to get the sodium goal I need. I am losing weight fine, but it seems like ever day I go over on my sodium. I am trying to eat as few processed foods as possible. Today for instance I have had 2 packets of apple and cimminon oatmeal for breakfast then my lunch I ate a cup of uncle bens rice. It was one of the personal ones, 6oz of grilled chicken breast, and steamed broccoli. I am already over on my sodium for the day and I have only eaten like 750 calories. What could I do to reduce the amount of sodium? Also is it something that will hurt me once I get to a certain weight because as of now I am losing like I said but I am just trying to lose the weight in the safest and healthiest manner thanks for any help!!!

Do you have to reduce salt for medical reasons? If not you can work on reducing your salt a little slower. When you log your calories it gives you the sodium total at the bottom, but behind every food you log, it gives the individual sodium. If you're way over, start looking at the foods you're logging and see where the sodium is coming from. You may have to eliminate some foods, or substitute a new brand--read those labels. Cooking for yourself is the best because you put in the salt and can cut down there. Try using more spices. Oriental food, processed, restaurants etc, use alot of salt. I would just watch my diary closely and make some changes as I go along. My brother-in- law is a cardiologist and he is always telling us to watch our salt. It just gets to be a habit. Best of luck to you.0

Thanks I don't have to reduce my salt for medical reasons but for the last few months I have actually started to take better care of my self and try to eat healthy and watch what I am consuming and it seems like sodium is the only thing I have an issue with other then that all of my stuff I stay right at but the salt is my killer right now but over time I will figure out how to better avoid consuming the wrong foods but thanks for the advice and yeah I have been trying to cook as much as possible!0

Then do things slow, try new things and you'll get there. Best.0 -

Give me some of your salt. I'm always low on it. I minimally season my food. Hate salty stuff haha0
