Hi! I was just wondering if anyone had tried Fucoxanthin. If so, how much did you take per day and what were your results? Any side effects? Thanks!

I actually had to look it up to see what it is. It appears to be some type of miracle pill. Save your money. We all want a quick fix and an easy way to lose weight fast. The truth is that if any of the pills, shakes, wraps, or detoxes actually worked, you would hear about it in scientific journals. The creators would receive the Nobel prize for medicine. Doctors, not ones paid to endorse the product, but all doctors would have their patients using it. Please, save your money and do it the hard way. Learn portion control by weighing your food. Follow the MFP plan and you will see results. It's worth the work and it teaches you good eating habits. Good luck to you.

So yeah, about that scientific journal thing:

    https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15896707

    https://dx.doi.org/10.1111%2Fj.1463-1326.2009.01132.x

I originally read about it here:

    https://examine.com/supplements/fucoxanthin/

More human trials are definitely needed. I've heard good things from people who have used it in combination with an appropriate diet and exercise program for weight loss.

I understand the majority of people asking about these kinds of supplements are probably misinformed and think a miracle pill is the answer. I appreciate your insight in that regard for anyone of said mindset reading this thread and thank you for providing that perspective.

Interesting articles but I would still be hesitant. What I didn't see is any long term success with humans. The study you provided is from 2009. I would think that if there was significant weight loss properties found seven years ago, there would be more human studies to be found and we would have heard much more about it by now. I am impressed that you did your research though. That is refreshing and who knows, maybe it will be your miracle. Good luck to you.

Funny thing about these pills...they all only seem to work in conjunction with diet and exercise.

Sounds like a great idea if you are a fat rat.

As far as I can tell there as been only one study done with humans. The results must be replicated by others not employed by the industry before it gets any credibility.

I did. I had reached my goal weight of 135, kept exercising and eating well, got to 130, and started to obsess about being my dream weight of 120 -35 years ago. I saw the pills in whole foods, researched it, read something about taking this and l-arginine together and started to take both. I got to 123, BUT because I was so obsessed, I was working out for almost three hours a day (was unemployed at time) doing a combo of strength training, cardio, and bikram yoga at 1200 max! I was a loon. Was it the pills? Doubt it. Figured i will stick with the tried and tested way, now that I'm at 132.

Almost makes you wonder if the diet and exercise would work equally well without the added woo, doesn't it? Almost.

Clearly I got what I deserved by asking a question on an internet forum and expecting useful responses. I'm not planning on taking it, I was just curious about it.

I think you did get useful responses - at least some of them were. Any time you ask a question on here about diet revolutions, you are going to get people who tell you they are not worth the money. There are many people on here who have collectively lost tons of weight. Not one of the people who lost significant weight and maintained the loss over the long haul on this sight would say it was because of a pill or a detox. We are trying to help, honestly.

Diet pills arent really celebrated on MFP among the thousands who work out and eat right. Thats all, but thats also common sense I think. And how is anyone to know that you arent planning on taking it and you are just curious? You dont say that in your OP. You've seem to have researched it enough too. ((I dont research many things Im not actually interested in, but thats just me.)) Dont take these responses personally. :)
