Food Money

I duno, this is kind of funny way to look at this, but might be helpful for some.

Try treating your caloric budget as food money. You earn food money by being alive - getting a brand new paycheck every morning. You could also earn food money by extra work - exercise. Spend it as you would spend real money - make the decisions between what you need, what you want, and what you can afford.

It is fun, especially if you have a spouse or significant other who is counting too. So many times my wife would offer me something and I would reply "sorry, I'm broke" or "no, I cant afford it right now, maybe tomorrow". Other times, when we grocery shop or prepare meals, we talk about calories as "how much does it cost?", "nah, that's too expensive", or "yeah, I got money for that".

Lol, you sound like me. When someone asks me if I want something that's just sugar/empty calories I tell them, "No! I'm too greedy with my calories!".
