Hi! I'm a 28 year young mother of 2 rambunctious kiddos. I have an unhealthy love affair with Mac N ' Cheese and overpriced coffee : 0. As corny as it sounds, I love Richard Simmons and lost 40 lbs after the birth of my first child by doing Rocking With The Oldies. I'm here to battle my addiction to emotional over eating and 2 am visits to the refrigerator. On a more serious note, Ive been battling my unhealthy eating habits sense I was 11. My parents divorced, my dad remarried, my mother left the state, and my grandfather passed all within a couple of years. I felt alone and food was my compannion. My stepmother always made sure that we had healthy home cooked meals, but I remember going back for seconds and third helpings. I was very active in school so I never put on weight. I used to visit my grandma and eat a whole box of Macoroni and cheese in one helping. I could also wipe out an entire pack of oreo without any problem. I moved in with my mother my senior year of highschool. We'd use to go on frequent taco bell runs throughout the week. My mother never gained weight because of her undiagnosed Graves disease. I gained 15 pounds my senior year of highschool. After graduation, I used unhealthy methods to loose the weight. I'd use diet pills, under eat, and over exercise. I was somewhat of a yo-yo dieter. I didn't put on a whole lot of weight during my first pregnancy. It was after the birth of my son that I gained 40 pounds. I was able to loose the weight within the first year. A year and a half later pregnancy number 2 came along. After the birth of my daughter I gained back the 40 pounds I had previously lost. 4 years later and I'm still struggling. I'm giving fitness pal another try but this time I'm looking for a sense of community. I have realized that I CAN'T do this alone. I'm here for encouragement as well as to inspire others. If this story relates to you or you are just in need of some encouragement, feel free to add me. I also have a Pinterest account Linzelle.

Yummmmmmm. I love Mac and cheese. Blue box, velveeta shells and cheese, or a different preference?

I absolutely love Kraft elbows or Velveeta shells and cheese. My favorite is homemade Mac N' Cheese with the Velveeta block of cheese, lots of butter, and canned milk.

It's the ultimate comfort food! My kids asked for me to cook some tonight and it took about all I had not to eat it. Not saying I'll never eat it again, I just don't have the will power right now.

I'm not a fan of macaroni and cheese, but my mum makes the best cauliflower cheese with bacon bits :-) I wish cheese didn't have a bajillion calories in it. I had four thin slices on my sandwiches the other day and it came out as 35g!!! I thought it was like 15. I don't know how many calories that ended up being, but it was more than twice what I would usually spend on that kinda thing.

I love Mac N' Cheese also! I just tried Velveeta Shells & Cheese today (individuals). I added a couple of teaspoons of parmesan cheese and a dash of salt and pepper. 240 calories. Soothed the beast. ;)

That's the right way to look at it! When I first started, my coworkers went to the casino buffet across the street from our office. I had no willpower to handle it, so I politely declined. Now, I could go and eat the right way. You will get there soon enough!

Food is definantly my emotional crutch. I don't drink or do drugs but food is my drug. On the first of January I started eating protein veggies and fruit and cut out processed foods and sugar. It does make shopping easier. I just don't go down the middle aisles. But when you have kids it is a little harder they don't tend to want to eat the good stuff if they weren't raised on it. I seem to do better if I just cut out whole sections of "bad" food. If I try to eat small amount of something I love like bread it will just be a matter of time and I will be eating as much as possible. I'm not very disciplined that way. But what do i know I've been working on this all of 45 days. If you can find a good food that is healthy low cal and you love it that can help alot because every time you want to to eat at 2 am you just eat that. I like sweet potatoes and mashed sweet potaotes. It satisfies me. It's warm and filling and is a comfort food for me that works when I just want to to eat everything in sight.

Cooperjeff488 my kids are as bad as me when it comes to the Mac N Cheese! They get it honestly. Tonight I didn't put canned milk in it and my 4 year old daughter said it tasted funny and wouldn't eat it :0!

Cynthiathompson51 I can definitely relate. Eating mainly protein and veggies has helped me in the past. Unfortunately I'm back at the beginning stage again where I feel like I'm starving because I'm not use to the portion control. It's tough trying to eat healthy with little peoplè but eventually we will get there. My 4 year old daughter isn't too picky. She'll eat a salad over chicken nuggets. My 6 year old son on the other hand is a different story. Part of it is sensory and the other part is my husband eats poorly. I just tried sweet potatoes not to long ago and they are awesome!!! Thanks for the advice!!!

Anything in moderation can be included in a food plan. However, if Mac and Cheese is a problem, then maybe try some similar options that are not so calorie dense. The cauliflower is a good choice. Half a yukon gold potato with a few teaspoons of grated cheddar or parmesan. Still comfort food, but less calories. A little bit of cheese really does go a long way as far as adding flavor, especially the stronger ones like feta or gorgonzola.

I also eat the 2% string cheese as a snack - usually around 50 calories.

glitterrain I've put just milk and butter or just butter in it before. My grandma always made it with a ton of butter and canned milk. Heck that woman puts canned milk in everything lol.I like the canned milk because it stays creamy and doesn't dry out. At this point I wish I could eat 1 serving. It will take a little while for me to get more will power lol. Some people eat cake and candy and can't stop eating it. For me it's mac n cheese haha!
