I have exactly 5 weeks...

Until my vacation. YES it's a warm climate so YES swimsuit weather. If MFP is accurate by stating that in 5 weeks I'll weigh ( so and so) I should be good. 5 weeks is a long time in the diet world. I WILL DO THIS!!!! MFP is my support!!!

That 5 week estimate is laughably inaccurate.

Actually on average it was pretty accurate for me

Of course it extrapolates based on that days calories and doesn't account for water weight fluctuations

But in 5 weeks if you hit the gym and eat appropriately you could feel better in swimwear than you do now if that is an issue for you

You would have to eat and workout the exact same way. I use that as a guideline, but not the bible.

I certainly do not use it as the bible either.. I know this... however it motivates me a little. I know how I have to eat and workout. I hit the gym daily and stay within calorie range. I really hope I can get to where I want to be in this time frame. Fingers crossed

That "if every day was like today" bit motivates me SO MUCH!! I love it.

I never use the finish day button. My calories tend to swing weirdly from right on the mark to really low, so it's never accurate for me, espically since i'm still trying to find my maintenance goal.

If you want to use it as a guide, you have to be VERY EXACT in your logging. It's still an estimate based on that particular day, so it will vary every day if you don't get the exact number of calories, but if it helps you stay on track, more power to you.

I told my self one day, I am going to eat just like today (the exact calories) for 5 weeks and the exact exercise/burn for 5 weeks and see if that damn thing is true..

I have been pretty consistent in the past year and half and this prediction is way way way off. But one day I am gonna do it.

I don't close my diary either so never see that prediction. It's a bit arbitrary for me, I just keep on keeping on as if this is just life and the losses are a happy bonus.

I go away somewhere hot in May, though won't be in a bikini at all possibly. I would like to be small enough to wear a particular style of shorts and not suffer the dreaded "chub rub" but fear my body shape will just make that hard regardless how small I am!

You can definitely make some good progress in 5 weeks. Good luck!

I always use the finish day button. It is 100% a motivator for me and I look forward to it at the end of my logging day!

I love that part too its so motivating. It usually only knocks off 1 - 1.5 a week for me so it's do-able too!
