DOMS: my nemesis, my lover, my motivator, my sabateur

I exercise pretty regularly (at least five times a week) and every few weeks I try to shake up the routine a bit.

It's been a little while since I last changed things up. This week, I decided to row and incline walk for some cardio instead of swimming.

I still can't move.

And...

Is it weird that I like it?

I mean, this morning I woke up (after yesterday's rest day) and thought I couldn't move at all. I got my backside to the gym and still did an hour's workout, but now I'm sat here at my desk with all sorts of regret, soreness, and elation going on.

Does anyone else secretly enjoy DOMS because you know you're challenging yourself? Or am I just a weirdo?

It's a silent conversation of love and hate with my body.

I actually LOVE DOMS. Especially in my legs. LOL. Obviously not the crippling kind, those arent much fun. But to me its a delightful reminder that what I did was real. And I enjoy squatting thru them to get relief!

Love it too, but could it be masking true fat loss cause of water retention?! Because i step it up week to week - this week i added spin - my scale weight is staying the same and creeping up. when will my body release it all?!

Not me. I train to be strong and competent outside the gym, not gimpy & weak. My workouts are very challenging, but i make changes gradual to minimize DOMS (and injuries).
