Hey everyone!

I've been a member of MFP for a while now, but never really got involved in the message boards.

I have recently noticed that a few years of crazy shift work, combined with a love for wine, further combined with moving to a city that seems to have winter for 8 months a year has taken it's toll on my fitness, and my motivation to be fit. That said, when you spend all day, (or all night) in scrubs with drawstring waistbands, you don't really notice the weight creep until it's too late.

About me:

I'm a pharm tech in a busy hospital
I'm also a volunteer medical first responder
Have husband, kids, dog
Live in Northern Ontario

Love running. I had a hard time fitting running into my weird schedule, but now I'm making it a priority. Looking forward to connecting with the bunch of you!

    Hello!

I was happy to come across your post, as well as many others that relate to shift work. I hope your journey is going well. I too can relate to everything you had mentioned: family, dog, crazy hours working with the public. I work in the lower mainland of BC and our rain lasts 8 months a year.

You may also have observed there is little information out there that relates to what we go through. Fatigue is my biggest issue: it feels very alone when it comes to the weight loss. In fact, it is the shift work that has caused me to gain 30 pounds in the last 4 years.

I too have not been involved in posting online myself, but have been on my fitness pal for years off and on. As I start to learn and experience new things I can share, I will be posting more! One member posted about grabbing pre-portioned meals/snacks in baggies, all with the same amount of calories. Love it!

Best wishes to all of the shift workers out there!
