I have a big event in 5 weeks time. Would love to drop a dress size, maybe 2. Is that a reasonable/realistic goal?

A reasonable goal in 5 weeks is 5-10 pounds lost, depending on a number of factors (starting weight, water weight lost, any medical issues, etc). Whether or not that will drop you a dress size depends on your stats, your genetics, and where you carry your weight. I would say that one dress size MIGHT be possible for some people, but two isn't going to happen in a healthy manner.

If anything, you might end up smoothing out some unwanted bumps or toning up a little, so it's definitely not a wasted effort.

I would agree. Aim for a low loss and count anything more as a happy accident.

I would invest in some Spanx or similar shaping devices and buy a dress that fits. You don't want to be uncomfortable in a dress 2 sizes too small and feeling like a stuffed sausage all night. As others have said if you do get down a size consider it a bonus - either way have fun and enjoy your event!

I don't set goals in regards to losing weight because if I don't meet that goal by the allotted time frame then I'll just give up. My motto is slow and steady taking it day by day. In your case, by Spanx!

Think I will start the 30 day shred again. I lost quite a lot of inches last time. That should do the trick
