I pay someone to push me once a week, and that's enough for me to push myself the rest of the time

Of course I am fortunate that I'm in a position to do that

If you're not, then join a class and bolster your own commitment

It's just a matter of forming new habits

We all have issues to deal with. It's really not a good excuse. I've seen wheelchair-bound people and people who've just had brain surgery get their stuff together and worked on their health and fitness.

Either you want to work out or not. No one can motivate you out the door or to the nearest Jillian Micheals DVD. That all has to be on you.

I would say find yourself a good group of friends here, but not by announcing yourself as lazy and unmotivated because no one wants to deal with that. My friends here help me a lot. They all workout and post daily updates. I don't want to be a slacker because then I can't make a post myself. LOL! It keeps me on my toes, but at the end of the day....it's me who has to drag myself out of bed at 5am to get to the gym. They can't do that for me.

@Ninkyou one of the best deadlifted and bb rowers in my gym (and there are some great powerlifters there including a world record holder) has an artificial leg. He's amazing.

OP, I'm sure you'll think I'm just a big ol' meanie, but I have to tell you:

I have been at this weight loss thing for a long time, and there's one thing I can tell you for certain: you have to want this for yourself and be able to motivate yourself, or things will not end well. Especially in the beginning: that's when you're supposed to be enthusiastic and gung-ho, ready to tackle anything.

If you come here on Day One and say "I can't do this without somebody else pushing me", then you're not ready and I fear that success is not in the cards for you right now.

Come back when you're ready and we'll be here to guide you and cheer you on. But if you want to succeed, the first step has to be yours, without a push from anybody else.

    So. Much. This.

Like others have suggested try seeking out a challenge (one with a group where you can set goals and interact with other participants and make friends). That can be very motivating. Ultimately you have to take responsibility for deciding what you want to do and doing it, though.
