Need advice on the best small equipment to buy to tone up at home. As I have small kids I cant get to a gym right now. I do Zumba once a week for cardio and walking, but need to do some strength training too. I already have some light dumbells and some really short resistance bands. Not looking to buy anything too big! Maybe a medicine ball? Thanks!

    Kettlebell routine.
Really good for over all strength stamina and fitness.

maybe get some longer resistance bands? IronWoody is known to be high quality and has packages of single bands. You could use the bands to do pushups with resistance, pull ups with help, triceps exentions, curls, rows, light squats, straight leg deadlifts, romanian deadlifts, etc. All you need is a pole or bar to attach them to.

Kettlebells! I go to a kettlebell class once a week, and the other days I follow a youtube video at home.

Get a suspension trainer or a kettlebell.

Or investigate a minimal/no equipment progressive strength routine: YAYOG, Convict Conditioning, Start Bodyweight, etc..

I am limited on space too and am forced to do strength training at home for now. I bought 10, 25 and 35lb barbell plates and found some good ways to get a full body work out with them on youtube. They store nicely under my bed and are cheaper than kettles bells.

You can do a lot of calisthenics without equipment.

The idea a few single plates from janjunie is good too, then if you get a bar later, you can still use them.

The tri-grip plates would be just like using kettlebells but they're easier to store.
