Hi. I just completed my first Whole30 and plan to continue on a 2nd round. The first week was tough because I was so hooked on sugar, but I'm proud to say that I didn't cheat and now I feel great. I'm 63 years old and I'm going to start working out. I guess you're never too old to make a healthy change. Any suggestions on how to start?

Its a brilliant template for eating.
    • Don't fear the fat on the plate, and make sure that half your plate is vegetables and fruit.
    • Drink lots of water, and don't forget to put salt on your food. Lower carb and higher fat stops insulin demanding your kidneys hang onto water in your body. Be prepared for a lot of peeing (sorry to be crude).... but you will lose electrolytes in the process, hence the need for a bit of salt. On my second round I hit an energy wall, but after this sage salt advise, I suddenly felt better (within 24 hours). That meant I am now fully of energy after work, and have started exercising in the evening.
    • Also once you kick the refined sugar habit, fruit tastes very sweet (actually so do some vegetables!) so it is easier to stay away from the cakes and sweets.
    • Make the Whole30 mayo, and make some ketchup - its really simple, and means you get variety with your meat.
