Any whey protein that is mainly protein and few carbs, is fine. Musclemilk is quite high in carbs.

Given a choice, perhaps Optimum Nutrition is a better choice in a similar price bracket.

Muscle Milk is wonderful - high in protein, low in fat, and enough nutrients to keep you going for a while.

I make shakes in the morning with 8 oz. muscle milk, scoop of whey protein, and fruit....delicious.

Make sure it's the Muscle Milk Light.

    HTH!

I wouldn't. Last I looked, MM was basically sugar and protein with some vitamins added in. Might as well get a tub of protein shake powder since it does the same thing minus the vitamins and takes up much less room.

In the end it comes down to which flavor you can stomach.

My son says TOTALLY to Muscle Milk. and he is JACKED, so if you are looking to gain muscle, I'd go for it. I heard that they make a light formula too...

I actually think muscle milk tastes better than some of the other "top" brands. It is too sweet for me. I stick to ON 100% Whey (Optimum Nutrition). I do like Muscle Milk Lite RTD's, but i'm not a fan of the powder.

there needs to be an epic eyeroll here*:noway:

there is no coorelation between drinking or eating 1 single food, and being jacked.
it is about the whole protein intake over the day, the weeks, months,
and following a progressive training program consistently with
    plenty of rest.

My son says, the carbs, fiber, and unsaturated fats help you digest and absorb the protein, and gives you good energy. It breaks down easily for energy and has the good fat. He is 5'6", weighs 176 pounds, is all muscle, and just generally very fit, so I would tend to listen to him...

Wise *kitten*! You wouldn't take advice from someone who looks like they benefit from the product they recommend and use? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good wise *kitten*....I stick by his recommendation. LOL

I'm certain I'm more jacked than your son (the pic in my avi is me) and I use ON or The Protein Works. Does this mean one should use ON or The Protein Works then?

I also like using ON, but we also use the Sam's brand/ $30bag of Muscletech Whey.
I hate the nasty after taste of ALL RTD's. Some of them have 'chunks', too.

LOL - he is 20, so if you are older and have been lifting longer, I am sure you would have more muscle mass. Weight lifters peak at their mid thirties I believe as far as strength and muscle are concerned, at least that was the prevailing thought the last time I read a muscle magazine at the gym.... Honestly I think that many of the protein drinks are probably comparable.

I use OxyElite Protein. After some research, it is easy to discover half the stuff on the market is crap. I haven't looked at Muscle Milk's nutrient profile myself, but I would be wary of anything readily available in a grocery store.

That is not very accurate considering protein manufacturers have no governing body to answer to. Unless you trust the manufacturer and study the nutrient profile yourself you will never truly know what you are getting. All protein IS NOT created equal.

I didn't say all, I said MANY are probably comparable. My son "researched" many and decided Muscle Milk was for him. He had a lot of problems with many whey based protein powders because they gave him reflux, and Muscle Milk didn't. He has had success with his, so I recommend trying it. Geesh people! Some posters on this site take this stuff way too seriously. No one that has given me a hard time has had a negative opinion about Muscle Milk, or cited any reason not to try it. This is not helpful. Good luck original poster, I say try it. I am out.

I am just trying to respond. I didn't say not to try Muscle Milk, just to be wary. I also offered what I take and why. Not helpful?

When it comes to protein drinks available while you are on the go, I would only drink Muscle Milk if it was the only option available because like Matt said when you are drinking a protein drink you want protein, not other crap in there. I do try and drink the light when I get a chance, but if Core Power is available then I will drink that instead. Check out the label of Muscle Milk and then Check out Core Power and see which one you would rather drink.

Here are the ingredients of the Muscle Milk Strawberries and Creme: INGREDIENTS WATER. CALCIUM SODIUM CASEINATE
AND/OR MILK PROTEIN ISOLATE AND/OR MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, BLEND OF VEGETABLE OILS (SUNFLOWER AND CANOLA OILS), MALTODEXTRIN, CRYSTALLINE FRUCTOSE, POTASSIUM CITRATE, WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE. CELLULOSE GUM, AND GEL. NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SOY LECITHIN, MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE, MEDIUM CHAIN TRIGLYCERIDES, MONOSODIUM PHOSPHATE. SODIUM HEXAMETAPHOSPHATE. POTASSIUM CHLORIDE.
ACESULFAME POTASSIUM, CARRAGEENAN, TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, ASCORBIC ACID, SALT, FERRIC
PYROPHOSPHATE, DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, SUCRALOSE, VITAMIN E ACETATE. D-CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE.
NIACINAMIDE. ZINC OXIDE. COPPER GLUCONATE. RED# 40, VITAMIN A PALMITATE. PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE.
THIAMINE MONONITRATE. RIBOFLAVIN, CHROMIUM CHLORIDE. FOLIC ACID, BIOTIN, POTASSIUM IODIDE.
    CHOLECALCIFEROL. CYANOCOBALAMIN.

Here is the ingredient list from Core Power: INGREDIENTS: FILTERED LOWFAT MILK, BANANA CONCENTRATE, HONEY,

I will see if I can find the article I read the other day but basically the guy said it's not his first pick in protein but if he forgot his normal protein at home or is traveling he has no problem stopping in and grabbing a premade MM. It's a lower grade product but still better than snacking on a burger for extra protein.

depends what your goals are and how much protein you are currently eating per day. If you aren't eating enough protein, protein shakes are a great supplement. Muscle Milk has too much sugar in it imo, but it is a good source of protein. Not the best out there, but not the worst. Good buy for the money.

Protein shakes are simply convenient. They are useful for people who find it difficult to eat a lot through the day.
You can get all the protein you want from egg whites as it is the cheapest option available. I have tried over these last 19 years tonnes of different brands, mixes of protein shakes and one thing is for sure. If you have reached your peak through training and clean nutrition then they are useful for macro control, otherwise save your money (protein shakes are not magical powder) and invest in better quality food.
Dont believe the hype you see on tv, mags. Do you think the bodybuilder promoting the a specific protein product got there simply by using it? If you believe that then go ahead and waste your money.
    Cheers

One food isn't going to make you "jacked" or "gain muscle". IMHO muscle milk is high in sugar, but it tastes good. Probably for the OP's goals I'd go with MM Light....if you can find it, and it HAS to be Muscle Milk.

not a fan of it. For protein I like Forzaone Mint Choc Chip (30G of prot per scoop/145 cals)
