I know Mother means well and I do realize she equates feeding her people to love (or something like that). Certainly I have this great satisfaction when I see how much my kids love the fresh fruit I've cut up for them and delicious and nutritious meals I make for them.
My mother and sister are natrually lean and I'm lucky enough to take after my wonderful father - yes, I'm 'big-boned' and my body just can't handle the treats she insists on. This morning she brought over some baked goodness for me and my girls (she's caring for them while they're on summer break). I have no desire for them - I'm not paranoid - I know I can have a bit if I REALLY wanted to, but I simply don't want it and choose to not eat processed food these days - my girls are the same way as far as that goes - but they may be weak when it comes to Grandmother. I can't control that nor to I want to restrict them at their young age. That's a whole other topic, though.
I find it so hard to say, "No, thank you" without making her feel bad (or feeling bad myself), but even when I do say no, she will keep asking me and making excuses until I run out the door! It REALLY bothers me that she just can't take no for an answer.
The more I'm writing the more I realize this is *MY* problem - not hers. I think I just need an attitude adjustment. SIGH....
