How to tell the difference between Quest Bars: Messed up recipe and fixed

I finally found a couple of Quest bars at a local gas station, I'd been wanting to try them for a while. I know they were the new recipe because of the corn fiber in the ingredients, but the first one I tried (Cookies and Cream) was definitely not anywhere near what the hype had claimed, even taking recipe changes into account. It was pretty awful and over-sweet, definitely not worth the cost. Is there a way to tell if I have the messed up new recipe they had to fix, or if I got the fixed recipe and they're just not for me?

Probably for the best, haha, they're a little bit above my current price range!0 -
The so called fixed recipe has the same taste (and ingredients) the only really difference I have heard people mention is the texture is softer.0

There is an old recipe with isomalto-oligosacharides, a corn fiber one, and then fixes to the corn fiber are the newest.
I'm not sure of a way to identify one corn fiber from another. The later the expiration date, the more likely they are to be the newest formulation, but I don't know of a cut off date.0 -
The texture of the newest bars are definitely softer. Give it the Charmin test and if it gives easily, you know it's the newest formula.0

Thanks, all! It's pretty soft, so I think they're just not for me. Appreciate the help!0

No real difference minus slightly softer. Also the new ones have 21g of protien the old ones had 20, quick way to tell the difference.0

I can usually tell by giving them a slight squeeze; the newer ones are a little softer whereas the older ones are a solid brick. That being said, I honestly can hardly (actually, I can't at all) tell a real difference in the taste.0
