There's no one standard answer because we're all different.

Plug your stats and activity level into MFP and/or another online TDEE calculator to get a rough estimate, and then adjust based on your results from there.

I currently have 1700 cal on my limit but with exercise it puts me over 2000 cal but it seems to work for me if I eat less I lose more weight but I don't want to miss out on the nutrition is it safe to go to like 1200 cal are you starving your body for nutrition?

Many people eat just 1/2 their ex calories back.
At 1,200 cals a day my cats would be in danger as a source of meat. Raw.
And I'm a short girl that does not exercise.
If anything try the 1,700, but you will likely get very hungry.

The minimum intake for men is 1500 to make sure you provide your body with enough nutrients. But if MFP gave you 1700, then that's what you should be eating, along with some of your exercise calories.

1250 is fine. Been doing it with great success. If I ate 1500, I would pork out right away! :)
