I am new to this whole thing. When I set up the account it made my daily calorie intake 1840. Seems pretty high. What should this be? And how do I change this? Thanks!

Depending on your current stats (age, height, and weight) and the daily activity level and weekly rate loss goal you chose when you set up your account, it should be accurate.
If you re-calculate your goals using the MFP guided setup and choose Sedentary as your activity level and one of the weight loss rates, the lowest number you will get is 1200 Calories per day, since that is the lowest recommended daily caloric goal for women.0
