Meeting calorie goals

As of right now I'm trying to cut weight. This has seemed to be the easier part for me. I've currently lost 20 lbs in the past month or so. I'm supposed to eat, as of right now, 2,050 calories. I'm at 1700 right now with 1200 burned during the day. How am I supposed to eat more when I am so full right now?!

So you're only netting 500? Depending on your starting weight, 20lbs can be really agressive and too quick. That's almost 5lbs a week. Unless you are in the morbidly obese range, you might want to slow down. You're losing lean muscle which accounts for skinny fat.
Point being.. Find a way. 500 net is not healthy, and you're going to feel the after effects soon enough. Add things high in calorie. My go to is usually almonds when I'm feeling weak from weight lifting.0 -

That's awesome man. I mean that's alittle low of an intake but if your not hungry your not hungry and your just going to lose weight faster. In regards to losing muslce, it's no big deal because your also losing fat and once you lose all the weight you want to, you can gain muslce back no problem! Just remeber it takes time, but sometimes we can get away with quick fix weeks, since let's be honest we've all have those quick cheat bad weeks also. I'm doing the same sort of thing. To lose 2 pounds a day I have to eat 2050 calories. I'm eating 1500 calories a day and burning 500 at the gym so my net is 1000! You can't do it for ever but good luck and keep it up!
Good lord, this is wrong on so many levels. Gaining muscle is more difficult than losing weight, especially if OP is female. It also requires a calorie surplus, which obviously will not happen if OP can't even meet deficit goals.
But hey, if you're into feeling weak, losing hair, brittle nails, and overall poor health for not giving your body the nutrients it needs, more power to you. But do not advise others that it is a okay lifestyle.

First off talk when you know. Second off gaining muslce isn't that difficult if you know your way around the gym and follow a good routine. I own my own company, working hands on everyday. I feel great not weak everyday, my hair is full and thick! My nails are clean and healthy looking, not brittle what so ever, and after leaving the doctors office this afternoon, I was in perfect health and my diet is fine! I may be allowed 2000 a day but I eat 1500 and burn 500 betting 1000! I have all my macros protiens, carbs and fats that are required for today taken care of! You don't need thousands of calories a day to survive. A few weeks low is no big but remember don't do it unless your doing it right and healthy! So on all the levels you thought, this is all right for me! it may be right for some people and not for others, we all are differnt and as long as we achieve are requirements health wise you can go under. Good job man, keep it up!
Supporting a VLCD is against the forum guidelines, so no, you shouldn't be telling someone it's fine.
OP, unless you are morbidly obese, losing 5 lbs per week is aggressively unhealthy. You will be losing a lot of muscle as part of those lbs, and at best will end up flabby and skinny-fat. At worst you could end up with serious deficiencies.
Add some calorie dense items like PB, full-fat versions of anything fat-free you are eating, cook your veggies in oil, etc. Try a calorie dense protein shake with yogurt or nut butter to fuel your muscles after a workout.
I don't understand how you could be too full to eat at 1700 cals, but I don't know your history. I am a 43 yr old woman at 5'4" and I easily eat 1700 a day to maintain my weight at 130 lbs. You DO need to eat more. Please take care of yourself.0 -

I am not supporting anything, especially any bad type of diet but you have to understand everyone is different. The original post states "how am I suppose to eat more when I'm so full right now". I here ya, I find it hard to eat more than 1500-1700 but I make sure I take care of myself first, calories second. I eat calorie light foods, and they fill me up and keep me under, and this is KEY, keeping me on track with macros, proteins, fats and carbs. Op it's fine if your under calories! Like I said I'm between 1500-1700 a day and burn 500-700 calls off a day from cardio. I'm healthy young filled with energy and am losing even more weight! We've all had bad cheat days, weeks and years that's why most people are here to lose weight. Well there are some quick ways, long ways, right ways and wrong ways. Don't let others tell you this is wrong, unless you feel it is and your hurting yourself, then yes stop and eat more calories. Low calorie diets aren't for everyone and aren't long term, but if you do it correctly there's nothing wrong with it. But again it's not for everyone and if it works for you then give it a shot. just make sure your getting the required nutrients. Calories don't mean as much as your health, be sure to have your macros, protiens, fats and carbs. Good luck in your weight lose battle!0 -

I highly doubt you burned 1200 calories during the day, unless you did 4 hours of intense cardio.0

Do you weigh yourself weekly or what? How long have you been doing low calories?0

I found i was losing too quickly (1.5 - 1.9lbs a week) in my first month so I have been gradually increasing calories. The one thing I do NOT want is to do what 80% of dieters do - regain the weight after a quick loss. So I am aiming for a slow and steady 1lb a week.
Yes, I can feel satiated on a 1000-1200 calories (if I have chosen carefully for the day). I am only 5ft tall so MFP set me at 1200 calories. Eating back half my exercise calories meant I was averaging 1300 calories a day. I was satiated and didn't need to eat more. But mentally, while most days were OK, there were some days when this calorie limit was extremely restrictive and I would feel frustrated. And then completely jealous of taller folks who can eat more
On top of this, I was feeling more sleepy than normal - this would last all morning. My DH commented that I was struggling to concentrate on stuff - I could only focus on one thing at a time and got flustered easily. My coworker said I looked tired. I certainly didn't want this whole diet thing to impact me negatively!
After studying my stats, a short while ago, I upped this and started eating back all my exercise calories, averaging 1500 calories a day. This has been a whole new world. I actually ate ice cream and a big cup of caramel popcorn on the weekend. There's actually room for the treats people talk about - and on a more regular basis. I had a 675 calorie dinner last night (huge since I normally stick within 300-500 cals) and still had lots of calories still to spare.
I think this will be a whole lot more realistic in maintenance. And I won't have to be on a super strict diet plan for the many months ahead. It's still too early to tell if I have figured out the right balance for me, but this feels good so far.0 -

My macros from yesterday.
OP, with the macros listed, you would have eaten @ 2200 calories, which is a much better number for you than 1700. And I agree the 1200 cals burned by exercise is probably a little inflated.
Obviously, you are an adult and can do whatever you want. It is generally held that a male should NET 1,500 cals minimum in order to meet his nutritional requirements for the day. That means what you eat minus what you burn should be bare minimum 1,500 cals. While going under that occasionally isn't a huge issue, going under that regularly risks losing muscle mass and suffering from long term nutritional deficiencies.
Again please take care of yourself, and best of luck!0 -
I did end up eating 2200 calories but still only netted about 1000 calories0

1200 calories burned just in exercise seems very excessive to me. You may be using an inaccurate calculator to figure your calories burned. How are you calculating that?
As for eating more, if you've met your nutrition goals but not your calorie goals, it's perfectly ok to add some high calorie foods, even junk food if you want. No need to deprive yourself of foods you like that aren't a good calorie choice just because you're losing weight. As long as you have the extra calories, you're fine.0
