so my mom has some health issues and since i do the cooking and most of the grocery shopping i need some suggestions. she has high cholesterol and blood pressure and diabetes.
I am trying to use less packaged food. broth i do use in soups but can buy less salt ones. she likes to eat a snack at night but cookies and bars which i get for my kids is not good for her. any ideas on snacks at night? maybe something packaged but okay for health issues. all her health issues lead to a mini stroke so I'm really trying to make both our lives healthier. it was like a wake up call.

For the most part weight loss and exercise will have the biggest impact. For diabetes, cutting down on carbs is generally beneficial and when carbs are consumed, it should mainly come from fibrous sourced and combined with fats/protein.
And snack can be nuts.0 -
Yes - reducing carbs would be best, keeping to under 100 grams/day. Take 3 to 5 grams DHA Fish oil each day too!0
