Cleanses

Has anyone ever tried a cleanse? What were some that worked well for people? I am a little leery of cleanses, since the results promised seem to be good to be true, or the program itself seems unhealthy. I saw this one on Pinterest http://health-heaven.tumblr.com/post/17089615944/what-do-you-think-of-gms-diet, but it seems maybe a little extreme.

Pretty much the single most ridiculous, nonsensical thing you could do in the name of health.

    Cleanses only cleanse your wallet.

I've seen the magic soup diet here before under different monikers. Don't do this.

I am not ashamed to say I did cleanse diets years ago and actually wound up further damaging my health and metabolism. I did this because I had already tried to control my weight with such extreme calorie reduction that only further restriction to basically liquids and vegetables remained. Now I carefully monitor my health issues, do lifting and walking and running and whatever other impulse I have and eat at a proper deficit. It's taken half a year to undo the damage I've done but I'm finally turning the ship and if I can get you to skip having to go through something similar that would be swell.

Thanks for the responses. I figured anything that seemed to be a "quick fix" was the wrong way to go, but just wanted to see if anyone had come across something worthwhile.

So, there's a cleanse thread, and an OP who isn't defensive, who will likely pass on this and achieve her goals in a healthier way, increasing her chances of success.

And no one got called a bully.

I have no idea what to do in this situation.

Quick, close it before all of these things happen!

I cleanse every morning, in the shower. That's what we're talking about here, right?
