Walking and calories loss

So we live near a huge 526 acre park and I go walking sometimes with my son he is about 40lbs 3 years old and he rides in a stroller. We walk both uphill and down hill and it's 5 miles so I'm trying to figure out how accurate the MFP apps is when adding it into the exercise diary. I choose the walking with infant or 15 pound load Because stroller isn't an option and I walk about 90 min and it's saying 515 calories. I don't think it's correct because I go to the gym and run on the elliptical for 30 min and it's about 370 calories. Is it me or the app incorrect

While you are pushing a stroller, I would expect it to be less work than carrying an infant. I baby wear on occasion with my almost 2-year old. My suggestion to find out exactly is to get a heart rate monitor. I find that apps and equipment overestimate... for example, my gym's elliptical estimates about 1/3 more than what my HRM detects. I also underestimate my walking to be more "truthful" to myself if I forget the HRM.
