Hi.. i have been diagnosed with RH and I also have diabetes. I am finding that the less carbs i intake the more frequent my blood sugar crashes. I try eating nuts and cheese stick for snack or a boiled egg and cheese stick and it doesn't hold me i end up crashing. I am constantly frustrated and want to know if anyone else experiences the same thing. I see a endocrinologist and a nutritionist and i followed the way the want me to eat and i was still having problems.

Ive had reactive hypoglycemia for years. Started while eating happily low carb and snacking on peanuts. I learned that if my bs was dropping and i ate protein, it dropped faster and farther. I had to keep raisins or little singles of oj in my purse. Check your sugar after you eat, and again an hour after you eat. Mine would drop below 70 at times and was bad, ive worked on keeping it up in the 80s and 90s. This was a process that took several months to get a system and habit working. You dont have to add back carbs but keep a healthy carb snack for those t i mes. Just remember that protein will lower bs, carbs will raise it. Too many carbs will raise it with a sudden drop later. Protein and carbs (veggie carbs, apple with cheddar cheese...) will keep it level. You can do it!!!Hi.. i have been diagnosed with RH and I also have diabetes. Oh! Milk, regular milk regardless of whole, 1% 2%, is a good protein with carb if you need it fast!0 -
Thank you so much for sharing. This is my problem when i eat protein and fat no carbs my bs drops and i feel horrible. I have to have a carb to keep me from dropping. so far 1/3 cup of brown rice, veggies, and protein for my 3 main meals works and i need to eat about every two hours right now. i have been eating a small fuji apple and peanut butter for my two snacks. it seems to stabilize me. Did your reactive hypoglycemia go away?0
