Adding Steps without a 'Named' Wearable.

Is there any other simpler way of adding 'steps' to the exercise section? My Xiaomi Mi band which isn't an MFP named wearable (despite many wanting it to be), tracks both steps and 'workouts'. I have just bought the Polar H7 chest band and transmitter which I have used with the phone app; and I have the F4 coming tomorrow. I am trying to build my health up slowly due to disability and bring my heart rate down. I have had the pleasure of finding out how many types of exercise can be adapted to standing, or sitting in a chair. I have been trying to think of the best way to log 'non-exercise' normal steps when able to/on a 'good' day. Other than take the Mi band and the F4 watch off when using the H7 chest band to make the figures easier, I can't think of any other way. I believer the F4 doesn't log steps although I guess I could set it up to 'walk' permanently, pausing it when resting or sleeping do you think? That though would mean wearing the band all the time and I am not keen on doing that. I also notice unless I have missed it, there is no way of adding steps as 'steps' in the exercise section. It just seems to be an option of choosing walking and the correct pace. Any ideas or suggestions that I may have missed to make this easier would be welcome.
