Hi I am 48 years old soon to be 49 in may but by the time I am 50 next year would like to be 10 st 5lb . I was 17 st 6lb have lost 8 & 1/2 lbs so far in 6 weeks with joining slimming world .but have struggled a little with my eating I tend to eat a lot of carbs and not enough protein I have noticed this over the last few weeks .so could do with advice a little .I do a lot of exercise now too ..

What kind of advice do you need? You seem to be working it out well and progressing well
Slimming World is an OK club .. I had some success with it but then yo-yoed back. I personally found calories an easier buy into so will eat anything up to my calorie goal with the following basis
I set my protein at 0.64g per lb of bodyweight and aim to hit that as a minimum each day ... I translate it into MFP percentage by 4 cals per gram and percentage of my total calorie hit
in a similar vein I set my fat at 0.35g per lb (should also be a minimum but I'm a little lax on monitoring that)
I eat a wide range of vegetables each day and try to monitor my general nutrient intake
I judge my calories across the week
I weight train 3 times a week and credit that with my body getting tight and toned and looking great naked. I think losing weight without progressive resistance training can make you look good in clothes, but not great out of them. The other benefits are to my bone density and hormone levels as I age as well as just generally making me feel fierce

Yep - as we get older, our Pancreas can no longer handle the carbs. We ain't youngsters anymore! Time to adapt to a low carb lifestyle. For some of us, Keto may even be required.. Start by keeping carbs under 100 grams/day.0
