I go to the gym around 3-4 times a week and I do at least half an hour of cardio on either a cross trainer or other machines.
On the machines at the gym I use either the 'fat burn' or 'interval training'
I was just wondering if interval training was a good way of loosing weight like the fat burn as I find I get on better with it

Hope this makes sense :#

    Hi,

There has been studies that suggest doing 10 minutes of HIIT (High intensity interval training) Is just as good if not better then doing 30 minutes of endurance based cardio.
By HIIT I mean something along the lines of going at a slow-moderate pace for 45 seconds, then going as fast/hard as you can for 15 seconds. You will burn more calories due to a faster heart rate.

In terms of actual cross trainer intensity rather then speed/effort I am unsure if it will have similar effects. But from this, I can only assume that interval training will give you the better results for your goal in mind.

At the end of the day it comes down to what you enjoy and what you find more enjoyable. Because if you enjoy what you're doing, you're more likely to return to the gym. Doing some exercise is better then doing nothing at all.

Fat loss comes primarily from your calorie deficit not from what "zone" or style of exercise.
Your exercise intensity should be attuned to your fitness goals and capabilities.
